ICUT Board of Directors
 
The ICUT Board of Directors is responsible for conducting the corporation's business between meetings of the membership. The Board develops the organization's public policy positions and provides for ICUT's representation before various government entities, educational organizations, and other agencies and groups. The Board is composed of five officers (chair, vice chair, past chair, secretary, and treasurer) and six directors at large. Each Board member serves a two-year term.

Dr. Tim Summerlin, Chair
Dr. Summerlin became the fifth president of Schreiner University in the spring of 2001, where he had served as provost and vice president for academic affairs. He came to Schreiner from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he was dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and also served as acting provost. Dr. Summerlin received his bachelor's degree from Abilene Christian College and both a master's and Ph.D. from Yale University. He will serve as chair until September 2009.
 
Dr. Charles Cotrell, Past Chair
Dr. Cotrell began his teaching career at St. Mary's University in 1966 and became the institution's first lay president in 2000. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from St. Mary's in the early 1960's and his PhD in political science from the University of Arizona in 1970. Dr. Cotrell has served the U.S. Department of Justice as a consultant on election systems and political participation and has presented his research on voting patterns to both houses of the U.S. Congress. He will serve as past chair until September 2009.
 
Dr. Jerry Bawcom, Vice-Chair
In August 1991, Dr. Bawcom became the twenty-first president of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Dr. Bawcom served at Texas Wesleyan University from 1969 until 1991, serving as Dean of Students, Vice President of Administration, and then president. He received his undergraduate degree and master's degree in secondary education from Texas Tech University, and his Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of North Texas. Dr. Bawcom will serve as vice chair until September 2008.
 
Dr. Tom Cedel, Secretary
Dr. Cedel was inaugurated the eighth president of Concordia University in November 2002. He served in the United States Air Force as an F-16 pilot and commander and retired with the rank of Colonel. Prior to coming to Concordia University at Austin, Dr. Cedel served as Vice President and Chief Academic Officer of Concordia University in Ann Arbor. He earned his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in biology from the University of Pittsburgh. His publications range from cellular physiology to military strategy. He will serve as Secretary until September 2009.
 

Dr. Frank Lazarus, Treasurer

Dr. Lazarus became the seventh president of the University of Dallas in July 2004.  Prior to coming to the University of Dallas, he was Provost at the University of San Diego, and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Marquette University in Milwaukee.  He received his doctorate in Latin literature and his master’s degree in Greek and Latin from Cornell University, and his bachelor’s degree from Canisius College.  He will serve as treasurer until September 2008.

 
Dr. Victor Boschini, Director
Dr. Boschini became the 10th Chancellor of TCU in June of 2003. He came to TCU after serving as vice president for student affairs and president of Illinois State University. Prior to that, he served at Butler University in Indiana and at Indiana University. Dr. Boschini was born in Ohio. He received his undergraduate degree from Mount Union College, a master's degree from Bowling Green State University, and his doctorate in higher education administration from Indiana University. His term as director will expire in September 2008.
 
Dr. Larry L. Earvin, Director
Dr. Earvin became president of Huston-Tillotson College (now University) in July 2000.  He has a doctorate in American Studies from Emory University, a Master of Science degree from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Science degree at Clark College (now Clark Atlanta University).  He returned to Clark Atlanta and remained there for 26 years, serving in numerous positions, including Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences.  He is currently Chair of the Board of the Texas Association of Developing Colleges and will serve as a director on the ICUT Board until September 2008.
 
Dr. George Martin, Director
Dr. Martin began his tenure as president of St. Edward’s University in 1999.  Prior to that, he served as Academic Vice President at St. Peter’s College in New Jersey.  He joined the faculty at St. Peter’s in 1969, became chairman of the Political Science Department, was Academic Dean and was named Academic Vice President in 1991.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University and received his master’s and doctoral degrees from Fordham University.  He will remain on the ICUT Board of Directors until September 2008.
 

Dr. Lanny Hall , Director

Dr. Hall returned to Howard Payne University as president in 2003, having served there from 1986-1989.  His 36-year career in education and government includes service as a public school teacher, Congressional aide, businessman, state representative, state agency executive and university professor, vice-president, president and chancellor.  He was chancellor and president of Hardin-Simmons University and Wayland Baptist University. His tenure in the Texas House of Representatives was from 1979-1984.  He earned degrees at north Texas State University and a Ph.D. from The University of Texas in Austin.  His term as Director will end in September, 2009.

 

Dr. Royce Money , Director

Dr. Money was appointed president of Abilene Christian University in 1991 after serving that institution as an associate professor, chairman of the Bible department, director of the Doctor of Ministry program, executive assistant to the president, and vice president and provost.  He received his Bachelor’s and Master of Divinity degrees from Abilene Christian University and holds a Ph.D. in Religion from Baylor University.  As a minister he served churches in Texas, Alabama, Maryland and Missouri and has authored books on family ministry.  Dr. Money will rotate off the ICUT Board in September, 2009.

 
Dr. Oscar Page, Director

Dr. Page became the fourteenth president of Austin College in Sherman in 1994, after serving as president of Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee.  Prior to that, he was in a vice president at Lander College in South Carolina, a dean at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia and on the history faculty at the University of Georgia and also at Western Kentucky University. He earned a B.A. from Western Kentucky University and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky.  Throughout his career, Dr. Page has been an active leader in community, church and civic affairs.  He will serve as a Director until September, 2009.
